"Happy New Year 2010" "News Update" from Chris Ermoian, Exec. Producer
Before moving forward with new shows in 2010, we look back at 12 years of music television production across Texas . As always, we continue with our original mission: To boldly go where commercial radio and television fear to tread, providing exposure for emerging artists, archiving all styles of Texas music, and expanding the musical horizons of viewers. The unique musical vision of the “Texas Music Café®” has brought the original compositions of emerging songwriters to over 91 million Television viewers in 160 countries . With the help of established songwriters such as Willie Nelson and others lending a hand, “The Texas Music Café®” PBS TV show was broadcast in Nashville, New York, Dallas, Chicago , Los Angeles, and other large television markets. The PBS TV show began national distribution via the National Educational Television Association (NETA) satellite in 1997. TMC is currently produced by “The Center for Texas Music History” on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas . With all these achievements, our most impressive accomplishment is still the mentoring of multiple gifted technicians, two of which now hold coveted GRAMMY® Awards for Excellence in Audio Engineering . Paul Concillio II passed away November 1st, 2009.
Paul Concillio II (center) passed away November 1st, 2009. He was father of Paul Concillio III (Video Director/TMC) and a friend and mentor to The Texas Music Cafe®. Paul was an audio genius who gladly shared his vast knowledge of microphones and recording technique with our staff of budding audio engineers. Paul was an enthusiast of “Live Recording” and preferred the spontaneity of live performance over studio recordings. “We were fortunate that he graced so many Texas Music Café tapings with his warm presence, gentle nature, and delicate advice when he saw us struggling. I admired Paul II deeply for his patience, kindness, and his comfort level with being an “audio nerd” (we never ran out of things to talk about). The only person I’ve ever known with the same birthday as mine... I found a deep connection to Paul II for sharing a birthday but more for sharing a passion for the challenges of live music recording. I can only aspire to someday be as patient, kind, and knowledgeable as Paul II. I am honored to be just one of the many (echoes) he leaves behind…” – Chris Ermoian (Producer/TMC) more »
