WACO, TEXAS (January 12, 2009) - The Texas Music Café, a live music program that has been aired both nationally and abroad on PBS since 1997, is launching it's eighth season of taping live concert series for 11 consecutive Saturday nights at Hog Creek Ice House in Waco, Texas, beginning on January 31 and continuing through April 11.
All shows will be taped in front of a live studio audience in high definition and 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound. All ages will be welcome at the live concert tapings, and tickets will be sold at the door on a first come, first serve basis. The Texas Music Café strives to uphold its original mission: To boldly go where commercial radio and television fear to tread, creating exposure for talent, documenting and archiving all styles of music, and expanding the musical horizons of viewers.
Now entering it's 12th year, the Texas Music Café has broadcasted on more than 81 PBS television stations and in 60 countries on the Armed Forces Radio and Television Service (AFRTS). The Texas Music Café exists solely to help musicians reach beyond their own borders by promoting them to a nationwide audience. Since 1997, no other radio, Internet, or television program has consistently provided as much variety, cultural diversity, and artistic flavor as the Texas Music Café.
"For the last 12 years, TMC has been a champion for original music in all of its glorious forms: folk, alternative, indie, Spanish, polka, country, blues, etc." said Chris Ermoian, producer for the Texas Music Café. "We aren't just using another bar to bring in another band. At TMC, we believe that it's our responsibility, our obligation, to share all kinds of music with the rest of the country, and to showcase truly rich talent in a diverse collection of musicians. We guarantee that all who come to the live tapings will experience a great show put on by excellent bands selected by people who know good music."
The Texas Music Café is co-produced by the Center for Texas Music History and Stuart Ramser, publisher and editor of Texas Music magazine. The Texas Music Café is currently in the process of building a completely new Web site that will house hundreds of hours of archived footage from past shows featuring acts such as Willie Nelson, Robert Earl Keen, Jerry Jeff Walker, Slaid Cleaves, Marcia Ball, Joe Ely, Billy Joe Shaver, and many others who have been part of this successful series. The new Web site will also stream live shows filmed at the Hog Creek Ice House. For the most up-to-date schedule, details and news, visit www.texasmusiccafe.com.
