Before moving forward with new shows in 2010, we look back at 12 years of music television production across Texas. As always, we continue with our original mission: To boldly go where commercial radio and television fear to tread, providing exposure for emerging artists, archiving all styles of Texas music, and expanding the musical horizons of viewers.
The unique musical vision of the “Texas Music Café®” has brought the original compositions of emerging songwriters to over 91 million Television viewers in 160 countries. With the help of established songwriters such as Willie Nelson and others lending a hand, “The Texas Music Café®” PBS TV show was broadcast in Nashville, New York, Dallas, Chicago, Los Angeles, and other large television markets. The PBS TV show began national distribution via the National Educational Television Association (NETA) satellite in 1997. TMC is currently produced by “The Center for Texas Music History” on the campus of Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. With all these achievements, our most impressive accomplishment is still the mentoring of multiple gifted technicians, two of which now hold coveted GRAMMY® Awards for Excellence in Audio Engineering.
