In 2008, Chris Ermoian and Gary Hartman, Director of the Center for Texas Music History at Texas State University-San Marcos, agreed to begin collaborating on the Texas Music Café series. While the Texas Music Café will continue to feature live musical performances, the Center for Texas Music History will now work to integrate historical photos and film footage, documents, interviews, and other archival materials into the shows in order to give the Texas Music Café series an added educational component.

The result will be a high-quality educational television series, scheduled to air on PBS and other networks, which can be used in a variety of settings to help document the uniquely diverse musical heritage of the Southwest.
